A day in the life with Guangyi Li, 2A Art Director
Guangyi Li, 2A Art Director, likes to see where a new tool or design style can take him. His work spans graphic and motion design, and experimenting is one of his favorite parts of the job. Before any of that begins, though, there’s coffee.
We caught up with Li for a look at his workday, from his fridge to his walks with his dog, Kimi, that get him out of his home office.
How would you describe your role at 2A and what does a typical day look like for you?
I am an Art Director and work on a wide range of design projects at 2A Creative, including graphic design and storyboarding for motion design. Exploring new tools and projects is my favorite part of the job. I love using AI tools to create new ways to work or try our new design styles.
What’s one thing you do before you really start working?
Grab my coffee, which is easy because I usually have five bottles of Starbucks iced coffee in my refrigerator.
Where do you do your best work?
I usually do all my work in my home office.
What’s one part of your workday that’s uniquely yours?
Walking my dog, Kimi, is a very important part of my workday. It forces me to leave the house.
What do you do when you hit a wall or have a tough task ahead of you?
I check out other designers’ work on Behance for inspiration. Sometimes I also talk with other designers at 2A to brainstorm ideas. It helps to see how someone else would approach a project.
How do you know when you’ve had a good workday?
When I feel excited and want to keep working on something into the evening. I like ending the day still feeling interested in the project and wanting to spend more time on it.
And how do you know when it’s time to log off?
I check the clock and get out of my office.
