Playbooks turn uncertainty into action
Where do we start?
When your customers or partners ask that question, they’re interested. But they may need help turning a new opportunity into a plan. As a marketer, you can explain why it matters. A playbook can help them work out what to do next.
Playbooks are practical guides built around a specific outcome. Some help internal teams run a sales motion or replicate an event. Others are resources a company shares with customers or partners to help them pursue a new opportunity. The latter is the kind we’re exploring here.
When a playbook fits
A playbook works well when the desired action involves more than a quick decision. A partner exploring a new business practice, for example, may need to see how peers approached it and understand what getting started involves.
In a recent engagement, we helped create a guide for partners considering a new cloud-focused practice. The audience needed more than an overview. They needed to hear from experienced peers and see a route from early exploration to a more established offering.
A good playbook offers that direction while leaving room for each organization to find its own approach.
Credibility gives guidance more weight
Advice lands differently when it comes from people who have done the work.
For this guide, extended conversations with established partners surfaced the practical lessons behind their growth. We pulled recurring themes from those interviews and shaped individual experiences into clear takeaways, keeping the details that made the advice useful.
That work takes careful coordination, from scheduling interviews to following up with busy contributors. It also takes editorial judgment to decide which experiences will help readers make their own decisions.
Make the route easy to use
Readers may not move through a playbook cover to cover, so the structure has to make it easy to find the guidance they need in the moment.
That means being selective. Keep the outcome clear and give the most helpful ideas room to stand out. Each example should earn its place by helping readers make a decision or take a step.
When your customers or partners need a way forward, a playbook can turn interest into momentum.
